My name is Gavin Teehan. Ten years ago I discovered that I had testicular cancer. Not the greatest thing in the world for a young man to discover. A young man who had just celebrated his 30th birthday dressed as Elvis Presley & who had crashed through his garden fence in a Sumo suit on the night in question. Awaking the following morning with the mother & father of all hangovers meant that the pain in my testicle went largely unnoticed & if anything was passed off as an unfortunate side effect of going for the Elvis “Las Vegas year’s” jump suit as my outfit of choice for the previous night’s festivities.
And so began my journey on the road to becoming a cancer patient. I hadn’t planned it, far from it. At this age I regarded myself as pretty world wise. I was married to Belinda, who we will come to later, had two young boys, Adam 5 & Camryn 3, life was good, I felt bullet proof. Cancer would begin to make me look at many things in a different light.
